A Brief Look At Indian Education Indian education system is most likely one of the biggest across the globe. As a matter of fact, higher education system of this country ranked 3rd in the world following US and China. What’s more, it is even expected to leave the US behind in more or less 5 years and China in the next 20 years. Some statistics say that the college age group population of the country keeps on rising, which is once again something positive for the education system of the country. On the other hand, as good as the future prospects look forward to the Indian education system, its education has rich history too. And we are going to learn more of that history in the later parts of this content. Their system of education has begun in South Asia with teaching various traditional educational elements similar to Indian religions, Indian logic and Indian mathematics. Of course there are several other things being taught throughout the period however, these 3 are the more common. It was in Taxila where the learning centers were built, which is now part of modern-day Pakistan as well as Nalanda, which is still part of India. However, things changed so fast the moment when English invades India. And it’s this moment when the western education was introduced.

When the education system started in India, it typically used to be under supervision of a guru or in modern sense, an instructor or teacher. But the education before was attained by learning things which can help a person to achieve Moksha or liberation.
Lessons Learned from Years with Resources
Soon after, India’s education system witnessed so many changes which include the emergence of caste-wide education. The Shudras were believed to be the lowest caste of all and as a result, they’re denied to have an education but for other caste like Vaishyas, they’re being taught of commerce activities and mathematic, Kshatriya would have to learn warfare activities and the Brahmans were made to learn about religion as well as scriptutres. Apart from that, the manner how education is provided to the students were quite different than what it is today. Before, students were obligated to stay at ashrams, which is oftentimes far away from home. Not only that, they’re made to follow some strict guidelines that were laid down by their teachers. But at the start of the Gupta empire period, population of India began to increase at staggering pace and so as the learning centers that were set up in cities similar to Nalanda and Varannasi. Obviously, this lead to many changes in their education system but still, religion is used as a major factor in India’s education system.
